DCW 2008

Dance Camp Wales 2008       July 26 to August 6

“ Will you, won't you,
will you, won't you,
will you join the dance?”

Croeso! Come and join us for another joyful celebration of body, soul and spirit.

Workshops: Dance with real musicians, Sing with the best teachers, play music and open your heart.

The Creative Quarter is the place to let imaginations play, with all sorts of crafts, cooking and constructions.

The cuddly, caring Creche is open during workshop sessions, to look after and entertain the under 5s.

The Fringe is the place to offer your own ideas for workshops and other activities. Share your enthusiasm!

Teen Space: Teen pow-wows welcome newcomers and workshops offer music, massage, games and space.

Well-being: There's a quiet corner of the field for counselling, healing, massage and inner replenishment.

The Sauna is always open and the Meditation Yurt and the women's Moon Lodge offer welcoming spaces.

The Shop offers daily deliveries of wholefoods, fresh veggies, fruit, toiletries and other essentials on site.

The Medina Cafe is a sumptuous sanctuary for good food from morn till night.

The Site is an organic farm in ancient woodland in the Pembrokeshire National Park and it's just wonderful.

Ground Rules: You're expected to show respect for your fellow campers and the environment. Of course.

Vehicles park in the adjacent field. No caravans or live-in vehicles are allowed without prior permission.

Morning Pow-wow keeps you in touch with what's going on, a time to celebrate and exchange ideas.

What to bring: Things to sell and amuse on Market Day, gorgeous glad-rags, instruments, things to share.

An explanation of our policy on Visitors:

Dance Camp Wales has always been a shared experience. There are occasions when campers have, unavoidably, to arrive late, to leave early, or take time out in the middle of Camp. But for the lucky majority, it is a shared journey for old friends and new, taking place over ten days in a safe and relaxing environment. Its popularity has grown and every year we have to turn people away when the agreed number has been allocated to paying campers and the ‘workers' who make it all happen.

We are able to hold the Camp in our enviable location on the understanding that it is, essentially, a private gathering, for members only, with no visitors encouraged or allowed to stay. Our host, our insurers, the licensing authorities and the D.C.W. Core Group are all in agreement on this point.

There are times when people from outside the Camp want to visit, to see relatives and friends, to satisfy their curiosity or because they've heard it's a Festival, and the response has to be, “sorry, no.” In the past, we've tried an “open afternoon” on Market Day, but many people find this an unsettling and unwelcome intrusion. We have recently asked campers to wear wrist bands in the hope that this will deter casual callers and identify those who shouldn't be there, but the problem of uninvited visitors persists. It's insulting to those who have not booked soon enough and breaches the agreements we‘ve made.

The feedback that the Core Group receives tells us that we are not doing enough about it. So, we need a positive commitment from all who come to Dance Camp Wales this year. We are asking that all of us, on booking, confirm that we will not invite visitors to the camp nor invite them to stay if they turn up. The Core Group will insist that anyone not booked in, leaves at once. The Gate Crew will endeavour to put D.C.W. campers in touch with visitors in the case of emergencies, otherwise the pub in Creswell Quay is an admirable place to arrange to meet, off the site. We hope that you will understand and approve of this decision.
