Dance Camp Wales 2012 is planned for
Tuesday 24th July 2012 (arrival day) to Saturday 4th August (leaving day).
Serena Cobb
I feel great sadness at having to tell you that Serena ended her young life recently.
She found much solace in dancing and many of you will remember her particularly from The Wave, and also from her presence in the Moon Lodge.
This is from her father:
Dear friends,
The funeral will take place near Stroud in Gloucestershire, at Amberley Parish Church, at 1pm on Friday Jan 27th. Serena’s body will be brought to the church the evening before. The coffin will be blessed at 6pm on Thursday and will be there from 8am on Friday if people want time to say goodbye. If you have a Tomtom the postcode is GL5 5JG, or you could download directions at www.amberleychurch.org.uk. The short church service begins at 1.00pm so if you could arrive before that it would be appreciated, it is non-denominational and dress will be informal (you can be formal if you wish).
There will be a space to read or say something in memory during the service. Afterwards there will be a reception in the Church hall with light refreshments until about 4.30. There will be a background slideshow and a space for live music should anyone wish to bring instruments. Later we will congregate at my sister’s bungalow in the next village of Houndscroft. Should you need accommodation please reply so I can organise a B and B. Rather than bringing flowers we are having a collection for Autism Self help groups.
Yours in Sympathy
Paul

Many thanks for all the feedback letters we've received from campers. We get loads of letters, cards and emails, almost all of which are helpful and encouraging! We do read and consider them all, and we are most grateful for all your comments. We are sorry that we cannot always reply individually to all of them, but they are all read and discussed, and often help us find the best solutions. Thank you.

This website exists for the benefit of Dance Campers, and we hope that for those of you who have access to the web, this may go some way to bridging the gap between camps. We do need to get campers' feedback and views about how the camp should continue to evolve, so if you have any suggestions, comments, contributions or corrections, please do get in touch. We're particularly interested to know which things on the programme you'd like more of, and which things you're not so bothered about.. Thanks!
We've managed to stay solvent again this year; in fact thanks to the generosity of many people, both at the 'auction' and otherwise, we've got slightly more money in the bank now that we had this time last year. There always seems to be something waiting that we need to spend it on, though! This year we need a new tank for the hot showers, for example, and we also intend to improve the toilet facilities at the top end of the field. Anyway, we've summarised the accounts for the last few years, so if anyone's interested in how the cash flow goes, here is a copy.
Please note we are not a 'festival', we are a small non-profit-making community camp. We do not have trading stalls. We do not hire bands or performers; there is no stage. I guess we just don't really dig consumer culture. Sorry. Thanks!
“ Will you, won't you,
will you, won't you,
will you join the dance?”
Croeso! Come and join us for another joyful celebration of body, soul and spirit.
Workshops: Dance with real musicians, Sing with the best teachers, play music and open your heart.
The Creative Quarter is the place to let imaginations play, with all sorts of crafts, cooking and constructions.
The cuddly, caring Creche is open during workshop sessions, to look after and entertain the under 5s.
The Fringe is the place to offer your own ideas for workshops and other activities. Share your enthusiasm!
Teen Space: Teen pow-wows welcome newcomers and workshops offer music, massage, games and space.
Well-being: There's a quiet corner of the field for counselling, healing, massage and inner replenishment.
The Sauna is always open and the Meditation Yurt and the women's Moon Lodge offer welcoming spaces.
The Shop offers wholefoods, fresh fruit & veg and other essentials, on site.
The Medina Cafe is a sumptuous sanctuary for good food from morn till night.
The cafe, like the rest of camp, is run by volunteers, and is not there to make a profit - any 'surplus' goes on maintenance costs and improvementss.
"We ate in the cafe all week, and it was cheaper than doing the usual family shopping!"
The Site is an organic farm in ancient woodland in the Pembrokeshire National Park and it's just wonderful.
Ground Rules: You're expected to show respect for your fellow campers and the environment. Of course.
Vehicles park in the adjacent field. No caravans or live-in vehicles are allowed without prior permission.
Morning Pow-wow keeps you in touch with what's going on, a time to celebrate and exchange ideas.
What to bring: Things to sell and amuse on Market Day, gorgeous glad-rags, instruments, things to share.
